Appointment for meter replacement

The validity period of water meters is uniformly 8 years. Connection meters (main meters) are the property of Budapest Waterworks, therefore the company replaces the meters at its own expenses and competence. 

Operation/maintenance of the shaft/basement is the responsibility of the user/owner. It is the user's responsibility to ensure accessibility of the meter, as well as cleanliness and accessibility of the shaft (including the safe/standard ladder). 

If you have already been notified of a planned meter replacement and the time is not acceptable for you, you can change it to a suitable time in the online customer service system.

Consumers with expired water meter, who registered with online customer service will be automatically informed and given the option to select a date for the meter replacement.

The user is obliged to allow work at the metering point belonging to the location of use at the time mutually agreed or indicated in the notice.

Should the user of the property change, the former consumer shall inform the new consumer about the date of the notified meter replacement. 

If the user does not allow the work to be performed at the time specified in the notification or by mutual agreement, or if the meter replacement is not performed for reasons attributable to him/her, we may charge penalty specified in Annex 22 to these Business Rules. 

Replacement of apartment water meter or garden meter

If replacement of the apartment meter or garden water meter becomes necessary for any reason, it is the responsibility of the owner or the user of the property. You may order the meter replacement with full administration from our Certified Contractors, from our company, but it can be done by you or a plumber of your choice.

Ordering Group apartment meter replacement

For condominiums group order is possible, the conditions of which are the following:

  • simultaneous replacement and/or installation based on a preliminary sent address list,
  • the invoice on the entire replacement and/or installation work is issued to a single name.

The order must contain

  • list of the concerned apartments (name, floor/door),
  • name and address of the cost bearer to which our company will issue the invoice,
  • name, address and phone number of the contact person.
The appointment of the date of the group meter replacement and/or installation will be initiated by our colleague by telephone.
 

Information related to invoicing

  • The call-out fee will be determined on the basis of the work. (In case of works completed in one visit we charge a single call-out fee. If, however, it is justified by the volume of the work to be performed (e.g. in case of a house with 100 apartments), the amount of the call-out fee per visit will be determined on the basis of the number of people performing the work and the number of days required for the work, which we will communicate in a written offer.
  • On-site work and administration fees for replacement and/or installation will be charged per consumption location.
